Believe the proper assessment is the line is "embargoed" meaning out of service pending repairs to bring it into compliance with FRA regulations. Of course, from what I've seen of the condition of the line, no track exists to apply FRA regulations.

The SHIPPERS are the ones that drove the nail in the coffin as they PREFER to ship by truck rather than pay a surcharge to bring the line back in service only to lose service after the next storm.

EsPee, while sometimes of questionable business practices, was VERY SMART in disposing of this albatross early in the branchline divestivure process.

My opinion ONLY..some shortline operators have been able to 'make s..t shine' but not all can be successful.
