What they didn't realize is that in the bay area, there's lots of things going on for the holidays- unlike many of their other railroads. So lots of competition. Including Roaring Camp. And Thomas the Tank Engine. And Santa Cruz is isolated by Highway 17 which no one from the greater bay area wants to drive in the rain or after dark. I get the impression that many of the people riding the "train to christmastown" are actually locals- hence the low ridership. Just a thought.
