The Mars light was operational during the Deschutes River trip in October. Funny but I didn't catch the difference in lens until it was mentioned here. I believe the Mars light satisfies any FRA requirement for additional headlights that alternate when the horn is blown (ie: ditch lights ). I also understand that historical steam locomotives such as Espee 2472, Santa Fe 3751 and SP & S 700 are exempt from needing ditch lights.
