I was in possession of a lounge car chair for many years; it's now in Zephyr 18's care. This chair was one of several that were " rescued " from old Amtrak cars @ 8th St. yard in Los Angeles; just before the cars were sold and / or scrapped by Amtrak in the late 1980's. One notable item of the chair was its' weight; that sucker was heavy !!! No doubt so it would not move too easily on the floor of a moving passenger car. The chair frame was similar to the ones pictured only wider and with arms. The upholstery was a faded green cordaroy and still in good shape for the vintage. That upholstery was tough too; you didn't sit on it with shorts on !!!
