I have been curious about the caboose as well. One rumor I heard was that the caboose had been sold to a fellow from Ca. that ran speeder trips on the YW at one point and was involved for a while here on the WURR during Hammond's brief operation. 2nd rumor was that Mr. Hammond had or has a partner that lives in Elgin who owns the caboose. These are rumors I have heard on the street so to speak and may be totally wild and without basis. I noted last summer that the caboose brake system which uses a K1 triple valve had no service date stencil. Maybe it was added after I looked at it and before it went into it's brief operation.
