Sorry to say, but WURR will have to get in line behind the Internal Revenue Service to get a lien on that caboose. Of course, Hammond plays shell games with paperwork, so even determining who owns the caboose would probably take about $50,000 worth of lawyering, and even after spending that, there probably will be about a dozen possibilities and no answers.
Hammond has a string of alter ego companies he uses. Standard Railcar Company. Yreka Western. Colorado Mineral and Mining Museum. Denver & Rio Grande Railroad. Grandpa's Depot. and a whole bunch of others. Besides, it is doubtful that WURR would be able to fetch much for the caboose. Anyone buying it would have to move it, and that will cost $5000-$10000, just assuming a semi-nearby move. It is not able to be interchanged, and no Class 1 railroad will haul it on its own wheels, although it might be able to be loaded on a flat car and then hauled on the flat car's wheels.
