At the time of log truck mishap SP was forced to run the service between Willits and Eureka so I don't think they cared much about the quality of the repair. Get it fixed, make it look good.....As I recall only one diesel engine provided the power after the fix so it had real slow acceleration. But you couldn't ask for more fun out in the middle of nowhere. The bell, the horn, the track noise, the torpedoes......everyone gets a cab ride. What memories!
