Well sad, BOB2, well said! Thank you for injecting some
much-needed reality into this proposed boondoggle.
I have nother question: where will they get the
electricity they need to run this thing? Here in
California, at least for PG&E customers, for some
years now our electric bills have listed which
"rotating outage block" we are in. I hate being told
to conserve electricity when people supporting this
huge boondoggle want to take our scarce power supply
and use it for unneeded high-speed trains.
And: exactly where is the money going to come from
to run these very expensive trains? It is a truism that no
passenger trains anywhere in the world actually make
any money at all. And at least here in California,
Proposition 1A, the proposition authorizing a relatively
small percentage of the actual costs to get an LA-SF
high-speed rail system built, makes any taxpayer subsidy
illegal.
If building such high-speed rail systems was such a good
idea, where are the private investors?
This whole idea is just another example of welfare for the
super-rich.
