Several projects are going forth to restore service on a portion of the Russian River Division of the NWP from Lombard to Fulton. Last week a contract was to repair all the bridges on the NWP was awarded to Ghilotti Bros. Construction and Cooper Marine Engineering. There biggest task will be the swing span over the Petaluma River at Haystack which is currently non-operable. The center anchorage (pin) will need to rebuilt. Black Point needs only minor repairs and was open one day last week to allow passage of MOW equipment. Brazos Bridge needs some electrical work. Signal work continues with some crossings getting brand new signals while others are being repaired and updated. Finally, a FRA Certified Rail Inspector began his walk from Lombard to mark ties for replacement to bring the mainline to Class 3 standards. Work Trains may start sometime this Soring as track work progress.
