Looking for RR MoW work this summer

I wanna spend this summer outdoors working in any capacity around a railroad, I figure this will eventually get me into a another craft. I'd even do ROW clean up and brush removal. I've applied to the western class 1's and haven't heard a peep in months. I'm a good sized young man. 6ft with big muscles in good shape. Anyone have any leads on hiring this summer? Based in Norcal but willing to travel.
