In Alaska, the Alaska Railroad had mileposts from Seward, the Pacific terminus, starting at zero. Miles 0 through 2 were wiped out in the 1964 tsunami. This trackage was never rebuilt while the original Seward station still exists on Railway Avenue. Milepost 52 or so was engineerd out of existance with a series of "S" curves in the tunnel district when the loop was removed.
