My wife and I and another retired couple whom we wanted to introduce to the Oregon Pacific (strongly hinting that they ought to return in December for the Holiday Express behind the 700, of course) rode the train in mid-afternoon. It was a beautiful day along the Willamette and we shoved all the way into the OPR yard adjacent to OMSI, thereby having the opportunity to introduce our friends to the Oregon Rail Heritage Center as we passed by. One of our friends is still convalescing from replacement knee surgery and we thank Conductor Kevin for greatly assisting us in helping her boarding and deboarding the caboose. The 1413 was under the capable control of OPR Brian.
Sadly, we were the only passengers on the train. The previous train was just arriving at Oaks Park as we pulled into the parking lot and I saw only a couple of passengers on it. I really hope that their passenger count on their planned June 22nd trips will increase greatly from what we experienced today. Come on out, y'all, and support a mighty fine short line.
