The BCR electrics were not the only electrics constructed by EMD. In 1975/76 EMD produced two freight locomotives that were supposed to replace the E-44's on the Northeast Corridor. Two types were constructed - a C-C engine and another electric with a B-B-B truck arrangement. I saw the C-C at LaGrange when the 4449 was stored there before taking over pulling the American Freedom Train. Later on I saw the B-B-B pulling the Tropicana Juice train through Elizabeth, New Jersey. Both engine were painted white and were called by some at EMD as "The Great White Hope".
I am sure that fans on the East Coast can provide information on what happened to them. They sort of just disappeared and no follow-up orders were ever produced.
