To Dave Smith;
Your comments regarding the " 2 Large Inland Barge systems " in the U.S. omits a very large & crucial system; one that ships hundreds of ISO containers every week. I am referring to the Alaska Barge system, run out of Seattle,WA. While technically not an Inland system, it is responsible for a large amount of product sent to the 49th State. But, like the Inland systems you noted, it also has an inbalance of loads North vs. empties South.
