Tejon Ranch doesn't really welcome people for tours and we were part of a special group being "treated" to the tour (long story) which was hosted by the Public Relations director of the company, a long time Bakersfield resident who had been the news anchor for one of the BFD tv stations. At the time Tejon Ranch was hoping to build a planned community on the LA side of the Grapevine which would include open space preservation and yadayadyayada-------I raised my hand and asked about the impact on the condors as an endangered species and this guy gave me a blank stare and said "in all my 12 years here I have never seen a condor on the property". Now our son regularly hunted on the Tejon Ranch (with permission) and said that condors were frequently sighted there.
