I would be more than pleased to post Dan's
enthusiastic remarks on Amazon.com. He
gave actual reasons why someone should
buy this great book, while I only said
I loved it -- no reasons given.
I'll write a better review -- and put it
on Amazon.com. I will also copy and paste
Dan's review and include it in mine.
I want to help you promote this great book,
because I like it so much and I know many
other railfans and others would really
enjoy it and find it both very interesting
to browse through and also very useful to plan
outings. There is definitely something for
everyone in this book.: listings of: locals
(in alphabetical order by city), hobby shops
(glad there are still some left!), live-steam
clubs, railroad museums and tourist railroads,
power (locomotives) on static display, wig-wag
signals, restaurants and bars made of railroad
cars, now-vanished yards and spurs, model railroad
clubs, and much more.
There is something in this book for everyone.
Most of this wonderful, informative, useful book is
composed of listings of various SoCal local freights.
This was the impetus for Mr. Freericks' first book on
this subject, and is the main focus for this excellent
book.
[Charles: This is what I am going to post on Amazon.com
as my review (with a few changes so I will be talking to
the reader, and not to you. Is this wordage OK with you?]
