Also, not that it makes a difference, but this incident happened before NARCOA was organized and known to the West Coast Motor Car community. I am not defending my actions, which were wrong, but once the MCCA and NARCOA was up and running as organized groups, this is how I chose to persue my hobby. I was also lucky enough to be involved with a shortline and a tourist RR which allowed my "free" access to motor car, albeit not in my own car, when I felt the urge in between meets.
I also was riding on an inactive rail line, which was isolated to the outside world, again, not saying it was right.
