My wife and I retired in 1994 and moved to southern Oregon from our home in Santa Cruz. The politics and anti-business attitude in Santa Cruz were, and most likely are still screwy. They've made many large businesses want to relocate out of town, much to the benefit to nearby Capitola and Soquel. Up here I'd say that 40% of the population are former Californians. Our politics are screwy here too, with Ashland, Eugene, Salem and Portland dictating the policy for the entire state. Still, it is a better life for us here and our numerous children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Now if only there was good train action nesrby. Oh well!
