How much education and insurance must a truck have

I'm not a commercial vehicle driver so I have no idea the amount of training a commercial driver has to go through and how much insurance they must carry (you would think enough to cover all the related costs and lawsuits)
I'm guessing if you haul gasoline your training and insurance must be many times more than those fly by night companies that haul produce in the farmlands
I always hope that taxpayers don’t get stuck with the costs of some person who should have never been behind the wheel of a commercial vehicle to begin with
