The McKeen was bought for Virginia City service but tests proved it unsuitable, so it spent its operating life between Minden and Reno. The "new V&T" track is far superior to anything the original line operated. The restored McKeen has already derailed once at the Museum. That said, Nevada's Sesquecentennial is next year. Maybe someone has insight into the politics and logistics of using original equipment for some celebration???
