That emissions box you speak of is called the Particulate filter and most of the time the need to be cleaned or replaced in as little as 75,000 miles. Diesel emissions are a joke The new engines are unreliable, cost bookoo cash to repair, get horrible MPG and emit more NOX than a 1960's Cummins 220. Nox emissions is the whole reason that started this whole mess in the first place
