OK -- so it says the engine is 95 liters and 16 cylinders. My dad says a liter is about 60 cubic inches, so 60 X 95 = 5,700 C.I.D., whereas an EMD 16 cylinder 645 is 10,320 C.I.D. Is my math wrong or is this a small diesel engine ??? I understand a smaller engine emits less Nox and other icky stuff, but will this engine survive in today's U.S. Railroad operating environment ??? And FOUR turbochargers ??? Just imagine the repair bills there ?!?
