I saw the Lyons Lake reload operation in 1964. It was impressive - Pickering converted the railroad grade east of Lyons into a private haul road. They used off-highway log trucks with 10-foot wide bunks on the private road. At Lyons, they had a big LeTourneau diesel-electric wheel loader which could pick up a whole truck load of logs at once. Not a railroad operation anymore, but still impressive.
