Thanks again, OPB, for bringing rational thought to an emotional subject. I believe it was John Reed, of the Santa Fe RR, who opined that the company's passenger trains were the window through which the customer saw the railroad as a whole. Perhaps Union Pacific can earn some goodwill with their freight customers by showing them how well they dispatch their railroad.
