By SP 8th St. Yard don't you mean the AT&SF's coach yard, which still had its old brick buildings in those days?

Great photo, really brings back the memories, Drew. In 1971 the classy ticket lobby at Union Station was still doing what it was intended to do, the Olvera St. taquitos had yet to be frozen and the RTD buses were still loaded with original route numbers that LARy yellow cars used. Jeez, smog from leaded gasoline could be painful on the peepers. Didn't anyone catch the image being reversed at this first link?
