Where do you think the term came from originally? How come we call our modern systems light rail and not trolley’s or trams like they do in Europe? The term “Light Rail” comes from the fact that originally these systems used, well light rail, often 40, 50, 60lb. Now days of course that’s not the case and yes, I realize the literal meaning of the term has changed.
