For some reason Brookville comes to mind. They built several overgrown motorcar designs in addition to small locomotives. One of the "Critters" books has a picture of an articulated unit - think "truck" and early refrigerated trailer built for a United Fruit property that looks like a similar hood.

Another possibility might be Fairmont. Santa Maria Valley had a Model A powered railbus that survives in operating condition at PSRM, Campo (still had its builder's tag). The Nevada County Narrow Gauge had either a Fairmont or a good copy.

By the 1970s, likely rebuilt many times. Was this originally an official's car or used for branchline passenger service? Hopefully it was included in their museum.
