It is amazing how things stay the same. In searching the Santa Rosa Press Democrat website, I found an article by Jeff Quakenbush, dated April 8, 2004 "Trains Get Ready to Run Again". A couple of quotes from the article follow; "After two years absence, trains may soon run again through Sonoma County", "Mr Stogner says skepticism about the current effort to reopen the line to freight is justified, given the history." There was mention of allocating money for engineering services to plan reconstruction of the south end, too. Interestingly, the November 2006 release shows allocating $3.5 million to plan these south end repairs. Between SMART and NCRA, a lot of consultant money has been spent. Hey, it is only taxes.
