This has been the tone of NCRA for years. Already the start up date has been pushed back from 2007 until 2008 Over the years one anouncement after another has claimed funding was, is, or soon to be released and allow them to the begin operations "next" year. Other than the City of Petaluma/Corps of Engineers repairing some track in conjunction with the flood control project and the repairs at a washout near Marin/Sonoma border there is little eveidence of any useful work having been acomplished. I will submit the activity seen near Corona Road appears to have been Culvert cleaning probably in anticipation of avoiding back up of water in the event of heavy rain this winter. But after years of extending "standstill" agreements with NWPY there has to my knowledge never been any attempt to restore service. If nothing else the public needs to have some transparency as to just what the heck is going on and a accurate time line when the service will begin. One certainly can't garner any information from reading the NCRA minutes. You would think that between the NCRA and the mystery operators some meaningful press would be published. You would at least expect to see someone inspecting the tracks, crossing signals, and other activities that would indicate a intention to get things going. Rather we are told that the tracks will be blocked until such time as the NCRA desires them to be reopened. The next thing we will see is miles and miles of rail missing. Like I have been saying for years, bring on the buses as I can't see any evidence this line will ever become active again.
