Not familiar with "recent" PLA politics (i.e post 1980), but what I've seen happen at several of RR across the country museums is that some personally insecure egomaniacs who Crave To Be In the Limelight weasel their way into a vibrant, dynamic organization of hard working volunteers. They don't really do very much physical work, and generally can't be bothered to join the organization until it's museum Really Looks Like Something. Even then, they just carp and denigrate others (sometimes by omission). As a rule, those who join museums to work on the equipment (with their hands) don't care for nor play politics because there aren't enough hours in the day to retube a boiler and then spend hours later on in the evening at a computer composing position papers.

The Toad is doing a major disservice to all museums by deleting this guy's comments. But then again, he is Subjective Truth and More Important Than the Objective Truth -- and proves it on a regular basis.
