As a previous post here mentioned, there is some phenomenal work in progress, a lot of accomplishments already achieved, and possible further greatness in the future. As a PLA member, I know it's possible to get enmeshed in some of the silly politics that does occur, but you have to ask yourself is this unique to the PLA, to the railroad museum industry, to railroading, or even to any specific industry?
Having worked in the electronics industry, nearly every company or endeavor has it's politics. Singling out the PLA avoids the real issue. Some people inject politics and enjoy conflict, but the true railfans realize they are in adult Disneyland and content themselves with pitching in to move the train down the track. Those people are the reason the Pacific Locomotive Association HAS accomplished so much.
I'm not dishing anyone, but as Jack Nicholson says, "Can't we all just get along?"
