Thanks for clarifying this confusing subject. I did know that Espee's system differed from many other RRs, as noted above, in that a rather large magnet was mounted under the locomotive, whereas Santa Fe's system ( and others too ) used a smaller U - shaped shoe mounted on the outside of a forward axle.
