I'm sure many of you will hate me for this, but aren't there a bunch of them still out there? And aren't some in pretty sorry shape? If you had mountains of cash, and got your hands on an already gutted GG1 with a roadworthy frame... could you just strip the old electric equipment out, mount a big water tank in it and have yourself one awesome auxiliary tender? Maybe an aux tender/tool car? Could also be an awesome place to ride. If not a GG1, could something like this be done with an E or F unit?
