My husband is on the BOD of the Point Lobos Association and I have here in front of me the "fact sheet" sent out by the CA Department of Parks and Recreation explaining the rationale behind the "close and put into a caretaker status" of 48 parks out of a total of 278 parks, meaning 230 of the parks will remain open and operational. It is quite simply a matter of looking at the cost of operating each park and how much revenue each park produces and shutting down the ones that don't " pay their way". I was a little surprised at one of the newspaper articles in the Jamestown area which said that Railtown gets 65,000 people per year. I would have expected it to have been more than that. At any rate, don't get your undies all in a big knot about this as it has to go through the political morass process before anything happens. :-)
