Nice photos, thanks for posting Steve. To me the most interesting part of the story on the Alco's and EMD switchers is there disposition. The Alco's built in 1965 downgraded to switcher nine years later and cut up for scrap in 1979 just 14 years old. While some of the old EMD switchers built in 1953 are still working a feedmill in the midwest shuttling cars back and forth.
It seems like Alco and Baldwin built great steam locomotives but just could not transition to dependable diesel locomotives. I guess that's stating the obvious
