Possibly. Or else something the new staff made up after they moved the magazine's offices from Newport Beach to someplace in the general vicinity of Detroit, apparently down the street from Car & Driver and Motor Trend (with which there now seems to be some corporate connection). The current editorial staff seems to be (or act like) kids who get to play loud and hard with expensive toys - which they describe sometimes as 'hooning'. The old guys had some class - the current crowd is just crass.
They do still come up with interesting items occasionally, despite themselves.
This is the magazine, BTW, that used to do April road tests of strange things (including, one year, a road). They did a "road test" on the Flying Scotsman's steam locomotive one year while it was on the West Coast. Both a long, long time ago. The new crowd has dropped that tradition, too.
