U were There?

Well, I was there too. Question is, did you do any work or were you one of the people that just hung around when it got close to steam up time?

Anyhow, as you did say the concrete crusher operation had nothing to do with the L1 bearing running hot. It also had nothing to do with shoes and wedges being to tight. Actually, there is no adjustment left in the shoes and wedges and it needed more. The fact is, the running gear is just plain worn out. It was that way when the SP retired the engine. We got lucky running up to Railfair99, that's all.

Now for that picture up above, that's my photo. It looks only like a portion of the full photo that I have (and have the negative for it somewhere). That's Mike Russell and Ken Asmus coming over to screw with the 150' cherry picker that I'm on. Also up there with me is Eddie Chase. It was amazing that Eddie was even on the chery picker as he's afraid of heights.

Now, for those that really "were there"... Tell me, why was the cherry picker there in the first place?
