Indeed, the CdA Local only comes onto what's left of the branch once a week now. Plummer Forest Products (formerly Potlatch) in Post Falls is good for half a dozen or more hi-cube of particleboard each trip, plus occasional inbound tank cars of glue. Plus there's Interstate Plastic, which receives one or two hoppers of plastic pellets at a spur near the Idaho Veneer plant in Post Falls and trucks that product to their manufacturing plant. IV itself hardly ships anything by rail anymore. Current plans are for a new run-around to be installed just east of PFP so they can trim away another couple of miles to the current end-of-track and ex-MILW runaround tracks at Huetter. The mayor and city council of Post Falls have been actively working with BNSF and UP to attract new businesses to what remains of the branch, but so far it appears most of the focus has been on the areas around Hauser Jct. (where the branch connects to the main) and Interstate (where UP services a fertilizer complex near the ID/WA state line). How long the diamond at Grand Jct. remains intact will depend on PFP and other industries in Post Falls.
