Update on this plagiarism issue. Here is a sequel. Pechner, posting as weather on trainorders.com today, just posted an article from another site. Here's his opening paragraph:
"From Progessive Railroading: The California Transportation Commission (CTC) last week approved the allocation of $510 million for 83 transportation projects around the state."
Now here's the first sentence of the post which Pechner attacked as plagiarism:
" From a posting on TrainOrders.net:
The official announcement will be made at 11am Thursday at the Sacramento Amtrak station by Steve Page, President of Sonoma Raceway and David Kutrosky, and Managing Director of the Capitol Corridor. (see press release below) for a passenger train..."
As you can see, absolutely no difference between these two posts except that the the latter puts the copied content in a new line. They both cite the site that the posts came from. Meanwhile Pechner attacks the other guy as a plagiarist while doing the very same thing himself with a sense of entitlement and no need to credit the author of the post or even carefully indicate which part of the post belongs to the another author, i.e., using quotes or a putting the quoted article a line below his own prefacing language.
