It's me that's wrong, there's plenty of power in the state for anything you'd want to do, just ask
them.
It's not so much a case of being wrong as putting the worst possible spin on the situation. Take a look at the increasing capacity compared to increasing usage, and you'll find that there is more than a grain of truth to the assertion that the present generating capacity doesn't automatically equate to plenty of power for RR electrifications. It's a simple matter of meeting demand; until the RR demand is there (or definitely will be), no generating capacity will be built to serve it. It was true of the VGN and N&W, it was also true of PG&E when it built power plants on the American River in anticipation of SP's projected Donner Summit electrification, and all of those were 100 years ago.
