Amtrak's web site has the basics regarding equipment & services. If you want first class (sleeping accommodations & meals included) good luck, at least during peak periods like summer. Interestingly, coach on the Starlight is less expensive for equivalent trips than on the Capitol Corridor trains, and in my experience the old Superliners are much more comfortable and quieter than the Cal Cars or other things on the corridor trains.

Yesterday's northbound, according to Amtrak's Track-a-Train map, is running about 6 hours late (was over 7 at one point). Per local news it collected a SUV between San Jose and Oakland last night; was only about 20 minutes late up until then. You just can't predict what will happen ...
