mook -- and all other pro-HSR folk --
Don't you think we should make and bake the cake first
before we try to put the icing on it?

HSR is the icing on the cake of a really good public
transportation system -- which we do not have here in
California.

And before we waste any more taxpayer monies on HSR,
we really must deal with this horrible drought. Any and all
planning that blithely assumes that California's climate
in the future will be more or less just like it was during most
of the 20th century is simply foolish and should be ignored.

According to climate scientists, there is no end in sight for this
drought. This is the new normal, and we need to live and plan
accordingly.

The climate here directly affects HSR because, if our climate here
can no longer support 38 million people, there will be few people left
who need transportation.

(And -- since I like to look at reality the way a real scientist does,
I l have to say -- as does any real scientist, "Of course, I could be
wrong." -- about the drought not ending any time soon. Gawd -- I HOPE
I am wrong about that! That is some crow I will eat VERY happily!)

This horrible drought will have a gigantic effect on the entire
state of California and everyone in it -- and lots of other people,
too, and all transportation planning must deal; with the effects of
this drought.
