I went through there nearly two years ago for some night photography, but knew in advance to get the Release of Liability and sign in with the security desk, which is nearby the old Traveler's Aid kiosk. That turned out to be a fine idea, as after about 40 minutes up on the platform, LACSD exercised a rather efficient and personal inquiry as to my intent. Not only did they radio in with the Security folks to verify my claim, but it really helped to have my usual large amount of gear and different kinds of film. The grilling I got was pretty involved, so all those things helped substantiate my story. Most people don't take pictures at night, so this makes explaining things a little more challenging. Nevertheless, they were adamant that I stop taking pictures of platform train movements. Happily, I spent nearly three hours on site and was rewarded with fine results. Closing out the evening at Traxx bar, I had dinner at The Pantry at 9th and Figueroa. Best wishes to anyone who can get satisfying shots within the body of that 'once again' high-volume station!
