You are dealing with a patronage machine which has turned California into a uniparty state. We'll see how great is their hubris with the next CAHSR contract. Do they have the nerve to steer it again to Tutor or is the Nieto scandal and the general need for the appearance of propriety going to mean somebody else has to get it?

Think about their crazy detour thru the Tehachapis at Mojave. With other bloated spending schemes, like everything at BART, Caltrain electrification, the outrageous Bay Bridge, at least those expenditures are linked to something with near monopoly business. There isn't even one lousy passenger train over the Loop. You cannot repurpose PB's Detour for anything - not freight, not road, not maglev, monorail, not MuskLoop, not bike lane. Who is gonna buy it?

But if any railfan complains about this monumental stupidity on the part of PB he is labelled a whackjob.
