My memory is fuzzy on this, what costs does the union incur representing an employee at a hearing?
I think the LC's lost wages are reimbursed by the union, no? That amounts to extremely expensive representation depending on the job assignment held by the LC. What is that, $500, $700, maybe even more, to be represented by a guy who can't even defend his way out of a paper bag? Besides, those are licensed attorney prices.
You'd think the BLET/UTU would have figured this out long ago, and as part of contract negotiations, demanded that a licensed attorney be permitted to represent them as needed.
