George, thanks. You are correct. Also, the equipment found on the Southwest Chief, (then renamed Southwest Limited due to the falling standards that Amtrak was forced to apply through budget limitations) was mostly from the El Capitan service. Chief and Super Chief was conventional equipment.

Hi-Level transition car actually did not have stairs leading up to the Hi-Levels. The transition was made through a Hi-Level car with stairs leading down. This was a dormitory coach, and these cars are still in Amtrak service, albeit more uncommon now.
