What you're saying is the truth on the ground. But technically the tracks are not "abandoned" - they're "Out of Service." Legally, there's a big difference, even if a person with one or two working eyes and a functioning brain can't see much difference. Key point: if you dig far enough into the weeds & trash, you will find tracks. They're not officially abandoned, and the land is still owned by the railroad. They're just not in use.
Are those (functionally) abandoned locomotives and cars still sitting around in what's left of the Eureka yard? Would be surprised if anything of value on them hasn't been liberated by now.
