Re: HSR to end at Burbank instead of Union Station?

No surprises here. The State of California "Rail Plan" is a useless piece of Caltrans Division of Rail garbage, that the State CTC finally "received and filed", that offers no real vision or rationale for our multiple HSR, IC, and commute programs, or how they should be integrated.
Almost all of the planning and design of the HSR system has been based on pure unadulterated bull$#it, like "build and they will come" fantasy's and air capacity predictions from back in the late 90's that have turned out to be completely wrong. The proposed HSR system design and planning still makes no sense in serving the most likely intermediate and short distance rail travel needs that is the real congestion problem facing CA.
Into that vacuum, comes nonsense like this dubious Burbank proposal, which helps deflect attention from local demands to build the much needed run-through at Union Station with HSR bond funds.
Due to my involvement, off and on, for the last few years, with some of the local actors, who can't make any sense of this ongoing fiasco, but still need to deal with the machinations of the still largely dysfunctional CHSRA, I choose to post anonymously.
So long as this project is out there generally squandering public funds, and forcing folks to react to the "flavor of the week" line of bull being proposed, at least some of us can make a quick buck, reviewing the documents, and writing comments.
