1) As I public sector worker, first I'd like to thank you for your comments about government workers. It enjoy so much to go to a website for a hobby which is supposed to be fun and only to have a fist rammed into my face. Thanks for making my experience more pleasant.
2) Amtrak did try to get into the express business and got out of it for reasons I don't remember. However, I do know that Union Pacific objected because they felt it was competing with their business. Accordingly, not everything that Amtrak does not/cannot do can be attributed to being a government entity.
