As stated by other posters, length would be limited by the tensile strength of the draft gear (enter mid-train helpers into the equation) and the ability of the UHF low power end of train device and remote control signals to communicate with the rear end (more reason for mid-train helpers).
So long as it is running on flat terrain without the need to clear up in a siding I guess most anything is possible...just wouldn't want to walk a UDE on one of these monsters and find the problem on the other side of a bridge with no way around!
